Casio Japan announced that today being
prepared for release G-SHOCK GB-6900 series on March 16, 2012. This
watch will be able to connect to the smartphone via Bluetooth LE
(Low-Energy) which is prepared on a standard Bluetooth 4.0, as in the
smartphone NEC Media PP N-01D.
According to Casio, G-Shock 6900 will
not only synchronize the time with mobile phones but also displays
incoming calls, emails, or text on the screen. Users also can change the
device to vibrate mode by pressing a button on the clock or to set an
alarm.
The main selling points this watch is
the installation of Bluetooth LE technology the first time in a
wristwatch. Bluetooth LE only consumes less energy when compared to
other Bluetooth version. Casio claims that the battery G-SHOCK GB-6900
can last for 2 years with a regular battery CR2032 series.
This watch were initially planned to be
released in December 2011 but then had to be postponed to 2012 because
of the catastrophic floods in Thailand that interferes with the
production of the device. Casio G-Shock GB-6900 will be priced at 18,000
yen ($231).
